Clutches are constructed in series. They are hydraulically or pneumatically activated and can work in either a wet (oil) or dry environment. Modified standards can be designed to fulfill unique client and application design needs that go beyond what is available in the standard catalog. Sales, engineering, and manufacturing service personnel are ready to answer your catalog specifications, parts and service information, and general enquiries about your special design requirements.
Some of the marine clutches available include the following.
LCT Series Clutches
This is a marine clutch that is designed to be installed and carried by the gearbox’s input shaft or the fire fighting pump’s input shaft. The dry disc pack of the LCT transfers tremendous torque in a tiny envelope. The integral torsional coupling separates the clutch, pump, or gearbox from the torsional vibrations conveyed by the engine. Some of the benefits of this clutch include a large bore capability that suits most gearboxes and modified standards for OEM applications.
The clutch can be used on applications that need a shaft mounted or in Front of Engine Fire Fighting systems for marine work boats and tugboats.
Low Inertia Clutch
This marine clutch is suited for high-cycle applications or general clutch functions. This clutch requires minimum part movement during start or stop. As a result, the acceleration time is minimized, causing more cycles per minute. This clutch is mainly designed for end-shaft mounting.
Some of the features you can get from this clutch include high cycle life, hydraulic actuation, ventilated center plates and high cycle operations. Only minimum adjustment is required for this type of clutch, and preventative maintenance can be easily predicted.
Power Grip Clutch
WPT Power Grip Clutches are intended for in-line and shaft-to-shaft power transmission applications requiring high inertia loads. The air-tube architecture provides for smooth, controlled engagement and disengagement with a small air volume. This marine clutch is available in diameters ranging from 8” to 60” and has a rapid reaction, small footprints, and low maintenance needs. The clutch features an extended hub tooth for serviceability.
LVC Series
Logan Air Actuated Clutches for Well Service Rigs and Workover Rigs offer a unique cylinder-piston design that is lower in weight and removes the need for air tube diaphragms. The Logan LVC series clutch is an air-triggered, multiple-disc, dry disc pack design that transmits maximal torque in a relatively small axial length. The LVC clutch disc pack’s release springs provide constant, dependable disengagement. Reinforced friction discs outperform industry norms in terms of shear and flexural strength.
Grinding Mill Clutch
The grinding mill clutch is the best heavy-duty option for grinding mill applications. Where controlled starts are required, high inertia loads are brought online fast and smoothly. WPT’s Power Grip clutches are designed to use as little air volume as possible. This marine clutch Reduces power consumption while starting a high inertia load.
In addition, the torque capacity and lining area of disc-style items are greater than those of drum-style products. This clutch is mainly appropriate for jogging and inching.
